What it is
A whole-house water filtration system sits where your mains water enters the property — usually under the stairs, in the garage, or in a utility room. Every drop of water flowing into your home passes through it first.
That means filtered water at every kitchen tap, every bathroom tap, every shower, every appliance — washing machine, dishwasher, boiler, fridge water dispenser, the lot. One install, one system, every tap covered.

How the 3-stage system works
Mains water enters your home and passes through three filter stages before reaching any tap. Each stage handles a different job — sediment first, pathogens next, chemicals last — so by the time water reaches your kitchen, bathroom, washing machine and boiler, it's already been treated.

Spun polypropylene — sediment trap
Catches sand, rust, scale particles and pipework debris carried in from the mains. The first line of defence — protects the more sensitive media downstream.

Nano-ceramic — pathogen filter
Sub-micron filtration captures bacteria, viruses and cysts that physical filters can't reach. NSF/ANSI 53-certified media. The serious one.

Granular activated carbon — chemical filter
Strips out chlorine, organic compounds and the chemical taste and smell of treated mains water. What you actually notice in the glass.
Cleaner water reaching your appliances means longer life for kettles, washing machines, dishwashers and the boiler — and a softer, less chemical shower experience throughout the house.

Jordan visits, tests your water, looks at where the mains enters, checks pressure and pipework, and writes you a quote in plain English. No pressure, no upsell — if whole-house isn't right for your property, he'll say so.

System designed around your water
The spec is built for your house and your water profile — not pulled off a catalogue shelf. We use British and European-made filter housings and proven media combinations.

Install day — 4 to 6 hours typically
Mains off for the install portion only (usually 30-90 minutes). Dust sheets down, shoes off where it matters, system mounted, plumbed, tested, signed off. You're back on filtered water by the end of the working day.

Aftercare & annual filter change
Filter cartridges last 12 months. Either you call us when due, or join the monthly maintenance subscription and we handle it automatically — see our Maintenance Plans page.
What it costs
Every install is different. Whole-house systems vary because every property is different — house size, water hardness in your area, mains pressure, pipework condition, what you actually want filtered.
Every install is quoted individually for your property — fully fitted, materials included. The only way to give you an accurate number is the free 20-minute on-site survey, and the quote comes in writing.
Things that affect the price:

- Water hardness in your area — harder water often needs combined filtration + softening.
- Mains pressure — low-pressure properties need different system designs.
- Existing pipework condition — older copper or lead-lined mains may need additional pre-filtering.
- Filtration vs filtration + softening — filtration alone vs combined install changes the spec.

How much does whole-house water filtration cost in Cheshire?

How long does the install take?
Most whole-house installs take 4-6 hours on the day, with mains water turned off for a small portion of that. We work clean, use dust sheets, and shoes-off where it matters.
How often do filters need changing?
Filter cartridges typically need replacing every 12 months. We offer a monthly maintenance subscription that includes the annual change so you never have to think about it. See our Maintenance Plans page.
Will it work with my existing plumbing?
In most cases, yes. We design around what's actually there rather than insisting on standardised installs. Listed buildings, older properties and unusual layouts are part of what we specialise in.
What's the difference between whole-house filtration and a water softener?
Softeners remove calcium and magnesium (the minerals that cause limescale). Filters remove chlorine, sediment, taste and odour. Many properties benefit from both — we can combine them in a single bespoke install if that's what your water needs.
Is the system noisy or visible?
Whole-house systems typically sit in a garage, utility room, under-stairs cupboard or wherever your mains enters. They're silent in normal operation. The only visible part is the filter housing, which is compact.
